NIU3A: Rugged Multifunctional I/O and computing system with Cortex A53 processor

North Atlantic Industries introduces NIU3A, the new compact, rugged, low-power multifunction I/O and processing system, pre-configured with programmable discrete I/O, ARINC 429/575 channels, CANBus channels and MIL-STD-1553 channels. NIU3A can also be configured with up to three COSA (Configurable Open Systems Architecture) intelligent function modules with 70 units to choose from providing a wide variety of I/O, measurement and simulation, communication, switching and SBC functions. NIU3A features Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGAs and Dual or Quad Core ARM Cortex-A53 processors for the support of software applications, I/O and communications, and is equipped with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of SATA Flash storage capacity. The NIU3A is configured with two 10/100/1000BASE-T (GbE) Ethernet ports, one RS-232 port for maintenance/diagnostics and configuration interface, 24-CH Discrete I/O, 8-CH ARINC 429/575, 4-CH CANbus and 2-CH MIL-STD-1553. All I/O interfaces are wired on circular MIL connectors, which – together with the high-strength chassis, small footprint of 180x143x75 mm and operating temperatures of -40°C to +71°C – make the NIU3A ideal for mission critical applications, providing an off-the-shelf solution that accelerates the deployment of optimized SWaP systems in air, land and marine applications.
