The AcroPack architecture, explained
Acromag's mezzanine format: PCI Express Mini Card electricals with a dedicated I/O connector, composing modular acquisition on PCIe, XMC, VPX and CompactPCI Serial carriers. Here you find the concept and the catalog.
What AcroPack is: I/O composed from modules
AcroPack is the mezzanine format with which Acromag miniaturized industrial I/O: compact modules on the electrical base of the PCI Express Mini Card, with a dedicated connector carrying the field signals.
The logic is that of a miniature instrumentation stack: a carrier hosts several AcroPack modules side by side, each carrying one function — analog inputs, outputs, digital I/O, serial, avionics buses. Carriers exist for PCI Express, XMC, VPX and CompactPCI Serial: the same I/O module follows the project when the platform changes, from industrial PC to conduction-cooled rugged system.
In the catalog the family lives alongside PMC, XMC and VITA 93 QMC in the mezzanine category: it is the most compact option when channels are many and space is scarce, with extended-temperature versions for harsh environments. GOMA distributes Acromag in Italy and integrates the modules on catalog platforms.

What the specification says
The concept, item by item
The module, the carrier and the functional families.3 entries
Il modulo
mPCIe + field I/O
The Mini Card's standard electricals speak PCIe to the host; the additional connector brings out field signals without flying leads on the module. One function per module, dense channels.
La carrier
1 to 4 modules
Carriers place several AcroPacks side by side and route field signals to the platform's front connectors or rear I/O: the same I/O composition moves between industrial PC, XMC, VPX and CompactPCI Serial.

Analog acquisition, outputs, digital I/O, RS232/422/485 serial, CAN and avionics buses: the functional families cover the acquisition and control that used to require a full-size board.
