A fanless box computer for the rail and vehicle environment
RBOX-1001-M12X is as an embedded platform for onboard applications. The chassis is aluminum, cooling is fanless, and the operating temperature range is -40 to 75 °C: values that cover the typical conditions of cab and engine room without an active cooling system to maintain.
CPU and configuration
The platform is based on the Intel Amston Lake generation, available in two processor options at order time: Intel Atom x7835RE, 8 cores up to 3.6 GHz, or Intel Atom x7433RE, 4 cores up to 3.4 GHz. Memory is DDR5 SO-DIMM, a single slot, expandable up to 16 GB. Storage is handled by an M.2 2280 Key M NVMe module.
Onboard connectivity
The two Ethernet ports are 2.5GbE on M12 X-code connector with Intel I226-IT controller: the M12X designation in the name identifies exactly this connector, designed to withstand vibration and humidity without additional cable glands. Also onboard are GPS/GNSS and Wi-Fi, plus two expansion M.2 slots for a WWAN module with dual nano-SIM and for a second Wi-Fi/BT module. The serial interfaces are two RS-232/422/485, for integration with existing instrumentation and onboard buses.
Digital I/O and power supply
The digital I/O provides 8 inputs (5-48VDC) and 4 outputs (12VDC, 100mA). Power supply is DC, with an input range from 24 to 110V, and power-on management includes ignition detection and Smart Power Management, functions intended for those installing the device on a vehicle powered by the vehicle's battery.
Certifications
RBOX-1001-M12X is certified EN 50155 and EN 45545 (fire), in addition to E-Mark, MIL-STD-810, CE, UKCA and FCC: the certifications that rail and vehicle applications require for an onboard device.
Mounting
The chassis supports both wall mounting and rack mounting, to adapt to the space constraints of cab and technical cabinet.
