ORing's IGPS-P9084GP-LA is a 12-port managed industrial Ethernet switch designed for power substations and utilities: the declared compliance is with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, the standards that set the electromagnetic immunity and environmental conditions for networking equipment in a primary substation.
The ports
- 8× 10/100/1000Base-T(X) with PoE PSE to IEEE 802.3af/at, up to 30 W per port and a total budget of 240 W;
- 4× SFP 100/1000Base-X for fiber uplinks;
- RS-232 console on RJ45.
PoE is programmable: scheduled port power-on, alive check with automatic reboot of the powered device.
Redundancy and time
The switch supports O-Ring with recovery under 30 ms, O-Chain for multiple rings, Open-Ring for other vendors' rings, MRP (IEC 62439-2) and MSTP/RSTP. Synchronization is IEEE 1588v2: in the substation, time is data, not a detail.
Management
Web, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Telnet, console CLI and the Open-Vision utility; EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP protocols; security with HTTPS/SSH, ACL, TACACS+ and 802.1X, DoS/DDoS prevention; IPv6, IGMP v2/v3, 802.1Q VLAN, 9.6 KB jumbo frames. On the data plane: 24 Gbps of switching bandwidth, 7 µs latency, an 8192-address MAC table.

Rigid fanless IP30 housing, DIN-rail or wall mounting, operating temperature -40 to 75 °C, declared MTBF of 602,954 hours, 5-year warranty. Footprint 54.3 × 145.1 × 108.3 mm, 0.78 kg.
When it makes sense
It makes sense when the network has to power cameras and sensors in the substation and pass the IEC 61850-3 immunity tests, with a ring that closes before the system notices.
