The switch brings the network inside the VME rack: the front ports use SFP and SFP+ cages for fiber links, while the rear ports go through the backplane. Copper 10/100/1000BaseT links and fiber links up to 10GBase-SR and 10GBase-LR are supported.
Switching and routing take place at layer 2 and 3 over IPv4 and IPv6, with management entrusted to the OpenWare software. The foreseen cooling is by convection, with air ruggedization levels declared by the manufacturer.
